Imam Ghazalee s View about Hypocrisy

Imam Ghazalee s View about Hypocrisy

We will go through a text written by Hijjatul Islam Abu Hamid Mohammed Ibn-e Mohammed Toosee, popularly known with his appellation Imam Ghazalee.

You might have seen yourself that dry worshipper (pretender) and superficial mystic saints behave arrogantly. They consider others as abject. Due to arrogance they keep their face twisted and thought-provoking as if they are obliging people by performing extra two rak’ats namaz or they have got the certificate of salvation from the hell or they got certificate of admission into the paradise or they believe that only they are pious and virtuous persons and all others are unfortunates. Besides all the evils they dress themselves as helpless, sober and humble persons with woolen or thick silky cloths and display extreme tranquility and vulnerability. However, there is no correlation or link between such dress, tranquility and arrogance. On the contrary, arrogance and tranquility are just opposite and contradictory. But these unsighted persons do not understand.

Imam Ghazalee had defined sense of arrogance as below:

Haughtiness (arrogance) is nothing but to consider one’s own ‘Amal as great and superior

Hadith of the Day: Knowledge

Narrated by Hazrat Anas  رضي الله تعالى عنه . : Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said,

Heavenly Women of Islam

Heavenly Women of Islam
Ummul Momineen Sayyidatuna Umme Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha…

Hazrat Sayyidatuna Umme Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha was one of the Blessed wives of Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam. Her father’s name was either Huzaifa or Sahl. Her mother’s name was Aatika bint Aamir. She was initially married to Abu Salamah Abdullah bin Asad Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu and both husband and wife accepted Islam.  They first migrated to Habsha and then returned to Makkah. Then after some time they decided to migrate to Madina.  Abu Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu saddled his camel and got Sayyidatuna Umme Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha to sit on the camel.  She sat on the camel, carrying her suckling baby in her arms.

All of a sudden, the family of Hazrat Sayyidatuna Umme Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha rushed towards them and said, ‘This girl from our family will not go to Madina.’  They then forcefully removed her from the camel.  On seeing this, the family of Hazrat Abu Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu said, ‘This child is from our lineage so we shall never allow this child to remain in your care.’ In this way, both his wife and his child were separated from him.  Hazrat Abu Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu did not change his intention, and leaving his wife Umme Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha and his baby in the trust of Allah, he migrated to Madinatul Munawwarah.  Hazrat Umme Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha would weep day and night in the sadness of being separated from her husband and child.

Looking at her condition, her paternal cousin felt very sad and thus went to Banu Mughira and said, ‘Why are you keeping this lady away from her husband and child?  Do you not see that she is sitting on a mountain top for a week, weeping in the separation of her husband and child?’  Finally, the Banu Mughira took heed to his words and allowed her to take her child and go to her husband  in Madina. The family of Hazrat Abu Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu also agreed to hand the baby over to her.  Hazrat Umme Salama Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha then took her child and departed to Madina.
