An Engaged Couple Texting Each other
Question: Nowadays it is commonly seen that after engagement, the couple communicates with each other through texting or phone calls. Is this Permissible?
Answer: A fiancé is non-mahram, communicating with a non-mahram without any legal (sharia) necessity is impermissible, be it through any means. It is mentioned in the fifth volume of ad-Durr ul-Mukhtar in the Book of Prohibited and Permitted things that communication by texting is also haram (prohibited)
It is said: “The pen is a tongue from the two tongues.”
