What is Halaq?
The person performing only Umrah or Tamattu Hajj should discontinue Ahram by Halaq, ie. Shaving of the head. The person performing Qiran Hajj should not put off Ahram without performing Hajj. Getting the whole head shaved is better, otherwise, the hair should be shortened by about half an inch in length. For women, shaving the head is forbidden. She should herself cut a full lock of her hair about an inch in length. After Halaq, return to Mataf and offer two raka’at Nafl of Saee which is Mustahab. This completes the Umrah which you started with putting on the Ahram. Those persons performing Qiran Hajj should now wait for Ayyaam-e-Hajj i.e. days of Hajj which begin from 8th Zil Hajj. Till then you should not waste your time in worldly affairs. Always do zikr, recite Darood Sharif, recite Qur’aan, offer Umrul Qaza, observe fast and try to spend the maximum amount of time in Haram Shariff. Do as many Tawaaf as you can, as this is the only place in the world where one can perform Tawaaf.
